You are Fat because of the Holidays
The holidays are coming and it’s time for enjoying more food! Oh wait, they are always coming and you probably did not realize that you have used all of them as an excuse to eat more “just this once”. A test showed that the average weight gain of an American between Thanksgiving and Christmas is 1 pound but a small amount of people that made up less than 10% of the test subjects gained more than 5 pounds – and you may just be part of that 10%, especially if you are overweight. When you fail to lose the weight you gained from one holiday before the next comes, it stacks up and snowballs to great effect. It may just be the cause of your obesity now and it’s time for you to shed the weight to look more attractive.
Here are some tips to help you prevent this undesirable weight from manifesting:
1. Exercise
Yes, this is probably something you saw coming. It is one of the best ways to shed the extra weight that you gained and it is the most known method that many people simply do not execute. You have more time than ever during the holidays and spending just 2 hours exercising won’t hurt. It’s still far less than the time you spend at the average day job. Also, exercising can become a habit once you do it frequently enough and it will seem less and less like a chore the more you do it, especially when you start experiencing the benefits it brings to you.
During Christmas, you can add more fun to this activity by doing things like skiing, sledding and ice skating. These should provide great family fun and work the weights off at the same time.
2. Sleep
When you have a chronic lack of sleep, you succumb to temptations more easily. The brain benefits a lot from sleeping and unfortunately, loses its efficiency when you have too little of it. Also, your metabolism is affected and this may just cause you to gain more weight. Try to sleep enough every day – at least 7 hours and preferably 8.
3. Reduce Your Alcohol Consumption
Try to keep off beer especially, because beer contains a large amount of calories – something you may not even be aware of. Check the nutritional information of beer online or on the can if they have it and you will be surprised at how many calories the seemingly innocent liquid can have. The first thing that comes to mind when you think of calories is probably solid food, but this is not the case. Alcoholic drinks also increase your appetite and this is disastrous when combined with festive foods that many times come with an abundance of oil and fat.
Hopefully, you will take these tips in and use them properly. It is now up to you to help yourself so that you will be able to enjoy eating more during the holiday season and still maintain a good weight.
