since 2004 i use to have itchy feeling in my right ear. consulting the ENT did not help. he said it was fungal infection it would reoccur once the antibiotics stopped this went on i had my ears cleaned by the doc finally he asked me to visit a skin doc. took his treatment for a year today. its been 7 years no doc has been able to diagnose the problem.

now it is so severe that watery discharge oozes out when i get stressed and this problem is now in both ears all year. reports are normal. my bone behind the left ear gets painful and hard get fever quite often with severe headache my doc has put me on antidep medicines [NAME REMOVED*]. cant still find the reason.

It is difficult to comment further without knowing your entire case history. Your symptoms appear to be due to swimmer’s ear (otitis externa) and a fungal infection (otomycosis) is often present in chronic cases. Antibiotics will not be effective for a fungal infection. It is also possible that this condition is related to certain skin diseases as well and it is repeatedly getting infected (hence the antibiotics).

You should go back and see your ENT or consult with another ENT if you are unsatisfied. If it is a fungal infection then you may need an antifungal plus corticosteroid drops to reduce the inflammation but your doctor will be able to advise you further.
