In a study including hypertensive diabetics, paced breathing exercise with FDA approved device RESPeRATE at home significantly reduce the systolic pressure, the upper reading in the blood pressure.

Sixty-six overweight obese take active parts in this study with high blood pressure with average 148 systolic and 81 diastolic blood pressure.

Among them 33 participants use the RESPeRATE device that slows down the breathing rate through musical tones that make the respiratory action voluntary, for fifteen minute in a day. The other thirty three patients were in the control group, researches explained

After the exercise of eight weeks, the 10 point reduction in the blood pressure was seen in the patients, whereas the blood pressure remained unchanged in the controlled group.

The user of devices reported that they feel more relaxed and comfortable after the use of machine, researcher said.

It has commonly seen that the diabetic people easily become the victim of hypertension. However data show that approximately twenty percent of type 2 diabetic patients reach the assigned blood pressure level. That is why it is very motivating that non-drug therapy can improve the blood pressure of such patients that significantly reduce the pills from patient’s portfolio.

Researchers have founded the link between Vitamin D deficiency and hypertension or hyperglycemia, which are the alarming signs of early health issues.

Our skin makes the Vitamin D in the presence of sunlight which is essential for our bones, but most modern studies have also associated Vitamin D with many other health benefits. This specific study founded the link between vitamin deficiency and high risk of heart diseases.

The participating teens in this study showed high risk of hypertension and high blood sugar due to the lack of Vitamin D. They were also more likely to develop metabolic syndrome, these three reasons are the major contributing factor to diabetes and heart diseases.

“More research is necessary to confirm that whether Vitamin D is really behind these health conditions and its intake wards off these conditions. Study have shown strong relationship that needs to be followed,” the study’s leader, Jared Reis said.

Normally, 15 minute exposure to ultraviolet rays of sunlight, several times a week is enough for the requirement of body. We can also find it in the milk and salmon.

In recent times, the American Academy of Pediatrics has two folded the amount of Vitamin D intake, in teen and children, almost 400 unite each day. This amount is equal to the amount attained by the four cups of milk.

“In the teens and children, deficiency of Vitamin D usually occurs due to the unhealthy diet and lack of outdoor sports or activities. If their diet consists of fries and beverages the might get the Vitamin deficiency,” Dr. Randal Thomas, director of the cardiovascular health said.

Optimistic people live longer and healthier than the pessimistic people U.S. researchers founded.

Researchers analyzed the death ratio and chronic diseases in more than hundred thousand women aged above 50.

Researchers founded, women with good expectations and positive attitude towards life were 14 percent less apt to die from any disease than pessimistic people and have 30 percent reduced risk of heart diseases after the follow up of eight years.

The frequency of diseases or habits like hypertension, diabetes or smoking was also less common in the happy folks.

Researchers also compared the women with suspicious vision about others in the group called cynically hostile with the innocent and trusted women.

“The women of hostile group showed the distrust on the other people for the sake of safety. These findings showed a general suspicion of the people,” led researcher, Dr. Hilary Tindle said.

The death rate in cynically hostile women was 16 percent higher than the non-cynically hostile women during the study. The probability of death due to cancer was 23 percent more in such type of women.

This specific study doesn’t prove any worse health effect of pessimism or negative attitude but the researchers believe that gull thoughts, some how, affect the health.

“More research is needed to develop therapies which focus on bringing modification in people’s attitude and if that modifications provide any health benefits,” researchers said.

The history of steroid use in sports starts from the World Weightlifting Championships of 1954. In this event, Soviet weight lifters easily clean swept all other competent in almost all weight classes.

During the investigation, the truth revealed, that the Russian weightlifters were using the injection of testosterone. This was the first event when the steroids were used by some athletes during sports.

Drug commonly known as steroids classified as anabolic steroids or corticosteroids. Anabolic steroids are the synthetic version of testosterone, developed to stop the degeneration of muscles in patients suffering from deadly diseases such as, AIDS and cancer.

These drugs stimulate the growth of bone and the appetite. But regrettably the extensive use banned it in baseball and all big events of the sports.

Even patients can buy steroids only, if they have the valid prescription of authentic institute or doctor. Like other medications including, pain killers, cough syrup and many more, anabolic steroids are strictly made to treat muscle mass deficiency because excessive and unwanted use can leads to the steroid abuse.

Now a day bodybuilder use anabolic steroids with other drugs like EPO to enhance their muscle mass. The combinations of the drugs induce growth of red blood cell.

Anabolic steroids mimics male sex hormone involved in muscle growth. Excessive use of steroid has reported to have adverse sexual impacts on men health; reproductive hormones can be affected which cause impotency. The one of the key side effects is weight gain.

Reported side effects in men includes baldness, development of female-like breast, reduced sperms counts, impotency, urination problems, prostate cancer, hypertension, jaundice, liver damage, acne, reduction in High Density Lipoproteins i.e. good cholesterol, tendons and muscle weakness and joint pain.

Anabolic steroids are usually available in two forms; oral and injectable and recommended dose is 20 to 50 micrograms up to maximum 150 micrograms daily.

If you are overweight or obese don’t worry! You are not alone. According to a rough estimate, 66 percent of U.S. adults are suffering from obesity. Attaining a healthy weight can protect you from hypercholesterolemia, the main cause of atherosclerosis, hypertension and blood sugar. It also reduces the risk of weight-related diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes and arthritis.

To maintain a healthy weight, a static equilibrium is required between the calories you eat and the energy you burn during your daily routine. For the effective weight loss, you must consume extra calories than you eat. A weight-control program must include the following steps:

eat low-fat, low-calorie foods

smaller portions than the larger

Drink fresh water instead of carbonated drinks

Being physically motile

Use of water and fiber

Fiber and water are natural appetite suppressant. Fiber has two important forms, soluble and insoluble fibers. Both are very essential in weight loss management and even for the health persons. Soluble fiber lowers the blood cholesterol level and insoluble fiber contains indigestible elements that made our diets bulky. Both of this form of fibers swell in the gut (alimentary canal) and create early feeling of fullness. Most of the high-fiber diets also contain sufficient amount of water lesser calories, making them must-have diet foods. Water not only suppresses appetite but it also removes the toxic body wastes. Excessive water intake also avoids the water retention of body, which increases the body mass index (BMI).

Weight management after childbirth

A neglected area of medical research is the interrelationship between childbirth and health conditions, such as obesity. Overall, present researches have shown that pregnancy accounts for weight gains in postpartal weight, especially with reference to age.

However, there is vast variation in postpartal weight gain, and especially the minority women, are more likely to gains excessive weight following childbirth. Although, psychosocial aspects, such as personal health features including stress and anxiety are also may considerably contribute to women’s’ weight gain after childbirth.

Exercise plan

The most effective exercise plan includes two steps i.e. regularity and variety. Try to bring different variation in your physical work out — maybe weight training, yoga, or water aerobics. Having fun and variation will not only keep you self-motivated but also enhance your commitment to exercise.

Women can easily reduce the risk of developing hypertension and the blood pressure if they drink milk that is fat free along with consuming more calcium and vitamin-D from the food sources, not from additional supplements.

A recently concluded research study published in the American Heart Association’s journal “Hypertension”, revealed this fact. According to the findings of this study, diets of more than 30,000 examined for women who were actually middle-aged and older.

Researchers at the ‘Harvard University’ observed that women who consumed more fat-free milk or low-fat milk and other milk products along with the diets rich in calcium and vitamin-D had more protection against any risk of hypertension and blood pressure.

Examining the advantages of consuming milk alone, the researchers observed that if women drank two or more servings of low-fat or fat-free milk every day then the risk of hypertension or blood pressure was reduced by almost 10% while in case of women who drank such type of milk for less than even a month the rate was comparatively higher to suffer from such health problems. Researchers found that these results cannot be replicated when tried with high-fat milk, other high fat milk products, and calcium and vitamin-D supplements.

In America, almost one in every three adults suffers from high blood pressure. Women even do not know that they are suffering from hypertension and their number is growing very fast.

A Similar study, which has been published in the journal “Circulation”, established this fact. During the previous decade, the number of cases of high blood pressure and hypertension has reached up to uncontrollable limit in case of women in entire United States. This problem has posed a great risk for all these women for developing other cardiovascular diseases, strokes, and kidney failure also.

There have been several researchers and many other attempts have been implemented pertaining to the dietary changes for controlling the blood pressure but on an average, “Americans are still missing the mark on their diets”, research says.

A new research study published in the ‘Archives of Internal Medicine’ indicates that the Americans generally try to ignore the “DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) Diet”. This “DASH-DIET” is a specific therapeutic eating plan recommended by the “National Heart Lung and Blood Institute” and it emphasizes on the intake of low-fat dairy, fruits and vegetables in order to bring down the levels of blood pressure.

Researchers also emphasized on linking the “DASH-DIET” with the low-fat or the fat-free milk for keeping the blood pressure under control. Because of this reason, the researchers say, the ‘U.S. Dietary Guidelines for Americans’ also impress upon drinking at least three glasses of low-fat or fat free milk every day. Three glasses of such type of milk is enriched with nine essential nutrients, including calcium, vitamin A, vitamin D, protein and potassium.

Hypertension and High Blood Pressure are two diseases that reduce blood flow in the brains of the adults who are suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Hypertension conditions make the blood circulate through arteries with extreme thrust. Though hypertension is not a direct cause of Alzheimer’s disease but it hits on the brain and thus enhances the vulnerability to several effects of the disease.

These are the conclusive findings of a recent study carried out at the “University of Pitsbugh”.These findings were also presented recently at the annual meeting of the” Radiological Society of North America(RSNA)”.There have been several researches in recent past and there are enough evidences available that connect the cardiovascular health with the brain health.

Reliable estimations of the “National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute” reveal that there are almost 50 million Americans who are suffering from hypertension presently. All these people are open to direct risks of cardiac attacks and aneurysm. Mild cognitive impairment, which affects brain functions such as language, attention and reasoning, is a transition stage between normal aging deficits in the brain and greater levels of dementia.

This study demonstrates that good vascular health is equally good for the brain.“Even in people with Alzheimer’s disease, it is important to detect and aggressively treat hypertension and also to focus on disease prevention”, said Dr.Oscar Lopez, Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh.

Researchers applied specific techniques and used ‘arterial spin-labeled magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)’. For 68 older adults, this technique was applied for measuring and imaging the blood flow in the brain.’ Arterial Spin-Labeled Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)’ is a novel, non-invasive technique and it does not require any external contrast agent.

The study involved 48 normal individuals. This group of individuals included 38 with hypertension and 10 without; 20 Alzheimer’s patients, including 10 with hypertension and 10 without; and 20 adults with mild cognitive impairment, 10 with hypertension and 10 without.

The MRI results thus obtained showed that in all patient groups blood flow in the brain was substantially decreased in patients with hypertension compared to those individuals who did not have hypertension. Cerebral blood flow recorded came out to be the lowest among the Alzheimer’s patients with hypertension, but the normal group with hypertension showed significantly lower cerebral blood flow in comparison to the normal group having no hypertension.

The study results established that a positive change in the blood flow patterns will make impacts on the hypertension and would be helpful in contributing to the pathology of Alzheimer’s disease.
