There are many causes that may lead to hearing loss in a baby or even an apparently healthy human all of a sudden. Hearing loss or auditory neuropathy is a condition that occurs due to cochlea though functioning normally develops problems in processing the sense.

There is an auditory brainstorm response or ABR with the missing or strange condition with the cochlea. So a child who may be hearing well all through life could suddenly end up in this problem. This can frustrate parents into diagnosis. But sometimes sudden deafness in childhood becomes common and soon enough the child is normal again.

Auditory neuropathy is the result of sudden pressure whether internal or external, happening with temporary or longer stretch. This could happen to kids in a more common way but may even happen in middle age or in old age. Using hearing implants or temporary auditory aids can be good to make kids respond. These are also available for adults who feel this way. Sometimes the information cannot just be processed well enough and this could be a temporary deafness problem.

Auditory neuropathy can actually be a strange and confusing experience for kids, if they have to go through this. Sometimes kids respond to sound well but they have a temporary blockage with things like flat ABR with no OAEs.

This is one of the reasons why diagnosis of hearing loss syndromes must be done from an early stage in order to find the right and perfect solutions. Professionals are able to help and guide you in this. Sometimes there cannot be any traced co-relation found in between hearing loss and ABR.

Some children are treated through external hearing aids while others may still be needing cochlea implants. Everyone’s case is unique but for parents of children with hearing loss there is hope at hand. There are definitely challenges if your child goes deaf even for a short period of time but with the latest technology coming into place these aspects are being overcome.

There are many online support groups and discussion groups where you can participate for exchanging ideas about your challenges and how to improve them. Support your self and anyone among your family and friends by knowing more on what can be done to overcome hearing problems, the measures you can take to control them and so on. Support groups are great birthing of new ideas and exchanges.

British scientists are optimistic about making the deaf people hear again with stem cells.

According to the scientists they have discovered the method to convert the stem cells into sensory, more precisely, auditory neurons that can be inserted with operation to restore hearing in deaf people.

The technique that has proven effective in the animals still is not in the position to serve humans.

“It may take some years, before we implement this on the human body,” lead researcher Marcelo Rivolta said. The sound detector cells of the ear only develop in the metamorphosis of the child and there is no way to repair them if damaged, which may result in partial or complete hearing loss.

Beside this study, researchers are also trying to treat age related eye disease such as macular degeneration or cataract etc with stem cells which have the potential to produce any type of body tissues and organs.

Researchers hope that one day they would be able to treat deadly diseases like cancer, diabetes or Parkinson’s disease with the help of stem cells. The initial step from ears or eyes may become a ray of light, since there is involvement of few cells.
