I have been taking pain pills for about three years now, I have takin…Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, a non-narcotic called Tramodol, and I have sniffed Oxycotin. My husband was an addict as well and he quit about six months ago with the help of Methodone. He doesn’t know I still use so I find it unbearable to go through the withdrawl symptoms, exspecially alone, trying to hide it. I have four children to take care of. I have looked up treatments like suboxone, but cannot afford them, they are about $600.00 a month. Wow, just to get help. Do you have any advice for me?

With this type of addiction, professional help is necessary. While private treatment is costly, there are many non-profit organizations that are willing to help people with pain pill addiction. Going cold turkey is rarely successful unless you have the support of a professional and your loved ones. In your case, your husband, who will play an integral role in your recovery, is ignorant about your addiction. You first step is coming out and saying that you need help and discussing it with him. There is no way to “secretly” overcome this without his knowledge.

You definately are going to have to get professional help with this. My sister was in the same situation as you are now. Her husband is a non-user of any kind of drugs and he has no knowledge of her being addicted to percocet, loracet, suboxone, xanax, etc… She just recently went cold turkey on her on and quit. She stayed clean all of 1 week and went back to using. Thou a person is able to stop using drugs on there on they rarely stay clean without some type of na meetings or counseling.. I wish you the best luck of with quitting and in your recovery. But the first step is acknowledging you have a problem and you have done that. Make the next step and get the help you need!!!! You are deserving and worthy of it. May God Bless you
