    It is difficult to say conclusively because it is dependent on the size of the hernia, the use of mesh, pre-existing conditions and of course the skill of the surgeon. It can vary anywhere from 2 months to even 2 years as the area heals. You should go back and speak to the surgeon who did the procedure. Complications could have arisen which is causing the pain and requires prompt treatment to avoid compromising the surgery.
