Otorrhea means an ear discharge. There are a number of causes of otorrhea and the reason why it occurs depends on the underlying ailment. An injury may cause a serous fluid (tissue fluid) or even blood to ooze from the ear while an infection leads to a pus discharge. Sometimes the discharge may be cerebrospinal fluid or excessive mucus.
