Just got home from being out and my pulse started to race. Touched around my adams apple, could that be the reason? Am I in danger? Blod pressure is fine. Thank you.
Ideally the heart rate of an adult should not exceed 100 when at rest. It would increase during times of exertion – physical activity, emotional stress, hot weather and so on. The blood pressure may momentarily rise but usually it stays within a normal range despite the elevation of the heart rate. This will gradually settle over a few minutes. If you find that your heart rate is constantly elevated above 100 (tachycardia) even when at rest, then you should see a doctor. Many cardiovascular conditions can cause this, as well as conditions like anemia, and it may be an indication of low oxygen availability. Speak to your doctor about this problem.
