Lungs and Airway1 Comment

I have been sick for a week, coughing up differnt colors of mucus from my lungs; clear, thick white, thick yellow and brown, etc. Today, the mucus I have been coughing up has started to leave an extremely strong chemical taste in my mouth and in the mucus itself. What can make the mucus taste so strongly of chemicals or metals? Why did it change so suddenly?

This could be a progressing infection and you need to see a doctor immediately. It may also be some blood (even if not visible), hence the metallic taste. The infection may have progressed rapidly and you have not sought proper treatment in time which is the reason why it is changing so suddenly. There are other possible causes but a respiratory tract infection seems like the most likely cause. Speak to your doctor as soon as possible as it could lead to serious complications.
