While you may be able to drive again after 6 to 8 weeks, it also depends on your individual case. Factors like how well the area has healed, pain, wound infection and the reason for the hip replacement can all affect the recovery time and therefore delay when you can start driving again. You should speak to the surgeon who operated on you and be going in for regular follow up consultations. In some patients, especially with the elderly, healing time can be very slow and may affect your ability to drive ever again. If you are experiencing pain when driving or limited range of motion that can affect your ability to drive safely, then you will have to wait.
