Previous researches had been shown that oily fish may improve the dementia (cognitive function), but educational background and mood counts more than that. Now question had been raised by the researchers about the role of fish oil in improving ageing brain condition.
During the past decade, the interests are rising to prevent cognitive function disorders through diet. The point of focus is omega 3 fatty acids but what are the neuroprotective properties fatty acids contain?
Most recent studies showed a significant reduction in the condition with the use of fish but when the British researchers compared it in the frame of psychological health and education they found the vanishing effects of the fish oil.
“Results showed that, though the association had been developed between oily fish and dementia, but if you take into account mood and education, the relationship goes far away.
Without considering other factors, it is hard to clear the exact benefits of eating oily fish,” British researchers stated.
Dr Dangour collected the data in regard of the study, comparing fish oil supplement with placebo, reported this year. He stated this controlled randomized study should provide clear evidences for the authenticity.
It a general yet established thought that Mediterranean diet, veggies, fruits, fish and poultry are the best source to reduce the risk of dementia, but which component effects the most is not known. The situation is fuzzy. When the factors such as education age and sex were accounted, oily fish eating became ineffective.
