Does hypothyroidism cause depression cause my friend seems to have a depression which she has hypothyroid.

    Yes, hypothyroidism can cause depression and it is fairly common in patients with this condition. The depression and other mental/emotional features will settle with proper treatment and management of the condition. However it is important to note that the depression may be unrelated to her thyroid problem.

    Some patients do get depressed about their condition and its impact on their life, aesthetic issues like weight gain and problems with fertility in women.
