A colonoscopy is not dangerous and will not kill you. There are complications that could arise after the procedure but these are rare and do not last for a long period of time. In the hands of a skilled physician, a colonoscopy is a safe, quick and very helpful procedure. However you should speak to the doctor who is doing th colonoscopy (preferably a gastroenterologist) about the medication that is being administered prior to the procedure and any possible adverse effects. While these medication are usually safe, based on your medical history and possible allergies, there could be an adverse reaction.
