I have to get a colonoscopy on tuesday and I am very scared and do not want to do it but my mom thinks that I should. I suffer with anxiety and am on medication for it too. I have been very scared. Is there anything that i can do to control it and try and stay calm? I’m really afraid.

A colonoscopy is a safe procedure and many patients find it less distressing than an upper GI endoscopy (via the mouth). The only way to overcome your fear is to educate yourself about the procedure. Make sure that the doctor conducting the procedure is aware of the anxiety medication that you are using to prevent any drug interactions.
