Pain in the umbilicus (belly button) can arise for various reasons but since you experiencing pain upon urinating, this may be a sign of cystitis (inflammation of the urinary bladder commonly due to an infection). In men, prostatitis (prostate inflammation) and other prostate conditions may also be a possibility and in women, various gynecological conditions and pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) may be possible causes. You should see a doctor immediately. An ultrasound and urine analysis will be done to identify the cause. If these are inconclusive, further tests will then be considered. Do not delay as many of these conditions can lead to serious complications if left untreated.
