You can find a list of causes of joint pain in single or multiple joints in this article –

While there are various possible causes, it is important to note that the pain may not be in the joint, articulating surfaces or lining but rather due to the muscles, tendons or ligaments in the area. It may just be more pronounced near the joint and when moving these joints. At times, a nerve running along this course may also be affected. It is best to have this assessed by your doctor.

Strain is a common cause and tends to be more prominent when the joints are at rest, like at night. If you work mainly with your hands and it may be taking a strain, then you might find that a joint brace can be helpful in offering additional support and reducing the strain. However you should speak to your doctor first.
