I have been having numerous symptoms of varying degree for years now: diarrhea; stomach cramping; pain, radiating to the side and back; muscle, joint pain; extreme fatigue; anxiety; insomnia, tightness in the chest, anal itching. Today, and this isn’t pleasant to say, but I pulled what looked like a worm from my rectum after a bout of diarrhea. I have been seeing a gastroentrologist for over 2 months. So far, I’ve had several “liver functioning” blood tests which reveal alternating results from elevated enzyme levels to completely normal levels. I’ve had an endoscopy, colonoscopy, MRCP, ultrasound, urine tests, but no stool test. My doctor has tried pancreatic enzymes and Nexium without positive results. I also had my gall bladder removed 2 years ago. Should I be tested for parasites, and if so, what information would my physician find helpful?
