when does someone realise they need help with anorexia, does it have to get to a critical condition before they realise they need help.

    No, help should be sought as soon as possible even if the health effects are minimal. The long term complication of an eating disorder can sometimes only be experienced months or years afterwards. If a person is anorexic, medical attention, counseling and so on needs to be sought immediately and the necessary steps to correct the problem should be commenced as soon as possible.
