Gastroscopy is NOT a treatment. It is a diagnostic investigation that allows your doctor to look inside your esophagus and stomach. Your doctor will be able to identify inflammation, ulcers and even tumors in this way. Once this is completed your doctor will be in a better position to make a final diagnosis and prescribe the appropriate treatment usually in the form of oral medication. It is this medication that will help relieve your symptoms and depending on the underlying condition, possibly even allow you upper gastrointestinal tract to heal properly.

You may be misinformed about a gastroscopy so I would advise that you speak to your doctor about this procedure and understand the implications. Your doctor will be in the best position to advise you as he/she has complete knowledge of your medical history.
