It is a very well known fact that genes are the elements behind the similarity of the looks between a parent and a child. However very few people are aware of the fact that genes are not the reasons behind the wrinkles or developing signs of ageing.
Dermatologist, Dr. Jeanine B. Downie, of the American board of Dermatology in her research has revealed the above fact that genes are not responsible for skin ageing.
According to her external factors such as less intake of water, smoking, sunlight exposure and stress are responsible for skin ageing.
The Skin Cancer foundation in America has conducted a survey which has revealed that around 40% of the adults do not use a sunscreen while moving outdoors. But according to Dr. Downie application of a sunscreen irrespective of the ethnicity or weather is highly essential. She says that use of a sunscreen helps in protecting an individual from skin ageing. She says that a sunscreen with at least SPF 15 should be applied when moving outdoors.
Another thing besides the use of sunscreen suggested by her is the use of topical antioxidants.
